Provincial
Honour Bands

The MBA's annual provincial honour band program (established 1976) provides an opportunity for outstanding junior, intermediate and senior instrumentalists to gather for an enriching and inspiring three-day concert band experience. Manitoba students are eligible to audition for Manitoba's Honour Concert Bands. Students are selected on the strength of their recorded audition which includes several scales and two etudes.

Junior & Intermediate Honour Band Listening Sessions

The Junior & Intermediate Audition Listening Sessions will be held on March 14 & 15, 2026. All sessions will be held via Zoom in 2-3 hour slots between 9:00am - 8:00pm.

Volunteers will be grouped in teams of 5 or more, and will create individual rankings before discussing and collaborating as a team to come up with the rankings for the section they are listening to. Audition music can be found here: Honour Concert Bands | MB Band Association

We're looking for musicians or instructors/educators with very high level (university educated or similar) listening skills to ensure the ensemble experience is of the highest quality.

Please fill out this form to let us know your availability, and we'll be in touch when your session has been scheduled, as soon as possible following the Audition deadline of Monday, March 9th, 2026. With our warmest thanks for your help!
